California city accuses Newsom of ‘overriding democracy’ with targeted new tax — as locals get miserable update

Newsom signed AB 1923, requiring Fresno County to place the Better Roads, Safe Streets initiative on the ballot. If passed, the proposal will allow a half-cent sales tax used to fund roads and other forms of transport.
